V1 PLANETARY GEARBOX

Beginning in May 2020, we chose to develop a planetary gearbox to enable a 4WD architecture for the FSAE competition. The first iteration of the gearbox - V1 - can be seen below, and was designed, built, and tested over 2020 and 2021. It has a 5" form factor while transmitting 21kW of mechanical power, and was tested over 2.5 million cycles. To see more about the testing process, check out this page.
